Meet The Therapist

THERAPIST

Hi, I'm Sarah.
I am a Certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist and the creator of Attune Play Therapy. When I reflect back on my journey to becoming a Play Therapist, I can see that I’ve always felt naturally drawn to working with children. From a young age, I found myself gravitating toward their world, where imagination, honesty, and play come so effortlessly. Being alongside children as they explore, express, and make sense of their feelings has always felt both meaningful and intuitive to me. This early love for connection and creativity is what eventually led me to play therapy, where I can honour children’s inner worlds and support them in ways that feel safe and manageable.

Over the past 12 years, I have worked in various childcare settings and schools. Before qualifying as a Play Therapist, I worked as a Special Educational Needs Assistant in a primary school. This experience shaped my understanding of neurodiversity in a very grounded and practical way. Working closely with children with a wide range of needs taught me to see behaviour through a lens of compassion, curiosity, and communication. It also keeps me informed and responsive to the many different ways children think, feel, learn, and express themselves. This background continues to guide my practice, helping me create an inclusive and accepting therapeutic space for every child.

If your child is having a tough time emotionally, it can feel really scary as a parent/carer. You want to help, but you’re not always sure how, and that can leave you feeling worried, confused, or even a bit alone with it all. So many parents tell me they wonder what their child needs or whether they’re doing the ‘right’ thing. These feelings are completely natural. My role is to be alongside you in it, to help make sense of what might be going on underneath, and to support you in feeling more confident and connected as you navigate it together.

I created Attune because I believe children deserve a space where they don't have to "perform", "behave" or "explain". A space where they can simply be, and know that every feeling, big or small, is welcome. I believe that we have the innate ability to heal ourselves given the right tools and environment, which is why, in my sessions, I follow a child-centred approach. That means your child leads the way, and I walk beside them, offering safety and presence.
